Questions? Ask in the Facebook group. If you do not use Facebook, you may email me at kristi@createahandmadeholiday.com, however, questions from the group take priority over email questions because I can help more people at the same time in the group. I will answer emailed questions as soon as I can. Thanks for understanding.

CH – chain

SL ST – slip stitch

DC – double crochet

SP – space

SK – skip stitch

REP – repeat

Chain 22 (multiples of 6-chains +4)

– Begin with  whatever size hook will give you the gauge you need to make this square (I used a G hook, which is one size smaller than what I used for previous squares.).

– Make a foundation chain with multiples of 6 + 4 stitches. For example, you can chain 22 (6 x 3 + 4).

Row 1

– In the fourth chain from the hook, make a double crochet.

– Continue making double crochets across the chain.

Rows 2-3

– Chain 2.

– Turn your work so the opposite side is facing you.

– Work 3 front post double crochets, followed by 3 back post double crochets.

– Repeat this pattern across the row: 3 front post double crochets, 3 back post double crochets.

– At the end of each row, make a single crochet into the top loop of the chain-4 from the previous row.

Rows 4-5

– Chain 2, turn

– Work 3 back post double crochets, followed by 3 front post double crochets.

– Repeat this pattern across the row: 3 back post double crochets, 3 front post double crochets.

– At the end of each row, make a single crochet into the top loop of the chain-4 from the previous row.

NOTE: At this point, you should start to see the entire basketweave pattern.

To finish:

– Continue repeating Steps 3 to 5 until your piece reaches the desired size.

– When you reach your desired size, fasten off your work.

That’s it!

Remember to stay patient and consistent as you work through the rows. The basket weave pattern will become more apparent as you progress. If you have any questions or need further clarification on any of these steps, feel free to ask. Good luck with your crochet project, and I’m sure your members will appreciate your guidance and encouragement in making handmade gifts!
